Early Updates provides the opportunity to receive pre-release firmware for your Network Player. This firmware version may provide more bugs as it is a constant work in progress until the next release, but you will be actively helping us to develop and improve the product.
To opt in for early updates with the new StreamMagic app:
To opt in for Early Updates with the StreamMagic app, firstly open the app on your mobile device, navigate to the devices tab where the Cambridge Audio player you want to select is located;
Then select the cog icon underneath your network player, this will take you to the settings page for your device.
Then select 'Early update'.
You should then select 'On' from the drop down menu.
After that tap 'Done'.
You will then see that Early Update is switched to 'On'.
After you enable early updates, you will then need to click on "firmware" in order to see if a new update is available to download.
To opt-in for early updates on older products that aren't compatible with the new StreamMagic app:
First, navigate to the web setup page of your player, by typing it’s IP address into a web browser on the same network. The unit's IP address can be found in the menu of your product.
Once you have reached this page, simply select the 'Early Update' option.
And select 'On' from the drop down menu.
After Early Updates has been selected, you will then need to click on "firmware" in order to see if a new update is available to download.
Once you have selected Early Updates as 'On', your player will automatically receive firmware updates before they are available to the public. This will allow you to test the latest firmware release and give your feedback on upcoming features and fixes.
Please note: As per the terms and conditions, once Early Updates is selected, feedback sent via the app is not submitted to the Cambridge customer support team. Feedback is sent directly to the engineering team and it is highly likely that only in exceptional or unusual circumstances will you be contacted. If you have an issue pertaining to the general public firmware release, you should turn the Early Updates option Off, and allow your player to update to the general release firmware in order to request help via the app.
What if I no longer want to receive early updates? If you do not wish to receive early updates, simply reverse the process above and switch Early Updates in settings from 'On' to 'Off'. You can opt in and out as often as you please.
